Quingdao is a special place. Nestled in the Northwest of the P.R.C's Shandong province, (the neck of the chicken) Quingdao is host to the 2008 Olympic rowing event. With its jagged landscape, hilly streets, and calm harbor, it resembles a quiet if not equally efficient San Francisco. I got this feeling being driven into the city by cab. The air is dry and at times hangs over the harbor. Fogs leisurely wend in and out in the cold fall air. At times it's crisp and windy weather augurs the arrival of winter.

A British Website

The thing about travel is that its so all encompassing and at times tends to be overwhelming. Not everything on one's list can be seen. And even if every location is covered on that list it is impossible to take everything in at once. I had this feeling awakening in Eastern Asia, of being overwhelmed and so set out to undo that feeling by enjoying the smaller, ever. One is struck by the contrast of things capitalist and sites that were made in a different era.
